No Chavez Google Doodle, here’s Moodle

Oh Well!  The guy who smelled sulphur at the UN General Assembly has gone to experience it first hand.  Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías or more popularly known as Hugo Chavez, the President of Venezuela for 14 long years, is dead.

Leaders across the world have been charitable about him, on announcement of his death, but to a neutral observer it had been clear for many years that Hugo Chavez was nothing but a dictator and a fascist in the socialist garb.

Venezuela is one of the world’s most oil-rich but socially unequal countries, and a large number of its citizens living in some of Latin America’s most violent slums.  In some ways, their condition is worse than that the slums of India - at least back home most violence is domestic and criminal behaviour is very low when compared to other places elsewhere.

Hugo Chavez was the guy who invented “Boliviarian Revolution”, whatever it meant.  Hugo Chavez’s father, Hugo de los Reyes Chávez, and his mother, Elena Chávez Frías, were poor primary-school teachers in the Venezuelan interior. Hugo was the second of six sons, and joined the Army when he was 17.

Today, according to Criminal Justice International Associates (CJIA), Hugo Chavez stole about $2 billion from the country’s oil trade and shared it among his family members. So much for Boliviarian Revolution.
Hugo Chavez held a larger than life image internationally, primarily by wooing, meeting and friendship with other such thugs in international arena - Saddam Hussein, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Belarus’s Lukashenko, Vladimir Putin and of course Fidel Castro.

He turned against America and its policies, primarily because the then Bush Administration’s wink and nod at an right-wing coup d’etat against him in 2002.  But Chavez had no qualms against popping up, subsidizing left-wing dictators and politicians in Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador and Nicaragua.  So much for independence and Simon Bolivar.

For sure, Google would not put out a Doodle for Chavez.  So here is a Moodle.
