What is new in VLC Media Player 2.0.5

VLC Media Player is the most popular, if not the best, free media players around.  Its ability to play almost any audio or video file right out of the box makes it a clear favourite to many.  And Videolan have released as updated version VLC 2.0.5.

VLC is a very powerful tool for media playback and ripping.  It just about plays every disk - CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, or streamed media files and capture from various devices.  VLC 2.0.5  can rip and convert those files into different formats.  For this reason some think it of as a geeky software, one which is not user friendly.

Nothing could be more from the truth.  To be frank, VLC Media Player is as easy to play around with as is Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic.  IMHO it is even more versatile that either of them.

VLC Media Player can also be used as a Personal Music Organiser (or Video Organiser).  The Media Library feature was not great (in fact rudimentary and poor) in earlier versions.  But that has been set right now and VLC 2.0.5 can take on any dedicated music players like iTunes, Winamp or foobar2000.

The VLC 2.0.5 is mostly a reliability and stability improvements release, which makes it essential that we update.

Here is the image capture of CNN live streaming being played on VLC 2.0.5.
