From Home Alone to Pub Alone

All these days, was under the impression that the movie Home Alone was the product of too much imagination - on the part of John Hughes the writer.  Don’t take me wrong, it was and still is a movie I love to watch - especially the buffoonery of Joe Pesci as Harry and Daniel Stern as Marv.  My disquiet was with the assumption that parents could ‘forget’ and leave behind a child.  That I thought was too much of an imagination.

But what do I know.  It appears that parents, even parents so high and mighty as the British Prime Minister and his wife can do it.  Leave a Child behind.  And horror of horrors leave the child back in a pub - of all the places.  It is now official that Samantha and David Cameron had left behind their 8 year old daughter at the pub ‘Plough Inn’ after a lunch.

Isn’t that a coincidence?  In the movie Macaulay Culkin was supposed to be 8 years old.  I believe Nancy Cameron is all of eight years now.  Too bad there were no Harry and Stern to make ruckus at the Plough inn.

It is reported widely that the staff knew who the girl was but had been unable to contact her parents because, as one pub insider put it: “It’s not like you can look up David Cameron in the phone book and then ring to say, ‘You’ve left your daughter behind’.  It’s frightening the Prime Minister of Britain can forget something so important as his own daughter.”

Fortunately we in India don’t have to worry about our PM forgetting something.  For mirth we have the total clownish behaviour of our Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna - the one and the one guy who can address the UN with the speech of Portuguese ambassador, instead of his own.

Or earlier during the BJP alliance we had the instance of Civil Aviation Minister Shah Nawaz Khan  leaving his passport behind  at New Delhi and planning to take a Guwahati-Bangkok flight.
:-P

That said, it is time for me to make a hotch-potch, since Nancy Cameron was apparently well behaved.
