The hooting owls were back briefly today evening

For the last hour or so I had been vainly trying to spot and take photos of the two owls who have been hooting from a tree about 50 to 60 meters away, to the west of my home.

By the time I located the tree and reached them by road, they’d either gone silent or had been chased away by murder (flock) of crows.  The owls had been going at each other and with another pair about a 100 meters to the east of my home from about half-past-five.

The shrill calling went on for about 20 minutes and faded off to an occasional hoot a half an hour ago.
Today is the IPL Cricket match between the Chennai Super Kings and Pune Warriors at the Chepauk stadium and a lot of my nephews and friends will be in attendance.

BTW, the 2 owls last time around kept hooting from around half past eleven till about twelve noon on 11th of April. Today I heard the owls from around half past five for twenty minutes, which coincides to the start of the IPL match around 2000 IST (1430 GMT/UTC).

Fingers crossed.
