Holy Shit - Is that Blasphemy?

I don’t know what blasphemy is.  For me, a believer in God, (not it the narrow sense that it can be only *their* God) - nothing is blasphemy.

For me God is omnipresent, and unlike the belief with the *people of the book*, my omnipresent God is embodied in Brahman.

Thus for me, as it should be for all Hindus, even cursing others should be, is actually considered to be, in a sense, blasphemy.  It is a different matter that people who should know better (than me) and who *claim* or *pretend* to know or embody my religion do act shamefully.

But this takes the cake.

A Christian woman sentenced to death for blasphemy, in where else but Pakistan, is the height.  Even if she has said something in the heat of the moment, so what?  It is silly to believe that God or Goddess or his or her prophets would be demeaned by anything, we, ordinary souls would say or mean.

But then, MF Hussain’s portrait too falls under the same category.  Personally, I don’t have a problem with that painting.

Wonder how the home-grown neo-cons would approach the issue in Pakistan though. If they that the Pakistanis are wrong, in a knee jerk reaction, then they too are condemned by way of reflection.

OTOH, if they say that Pakistanis are right, then they should stop uttering all those anti-non-Hindu slogans.

A real catch-22 situation.

My Wicked half whispers, ‘What is meant by this term ‘Holy Shit’?

Is it that which is defecated by a Holy one, like a religious guru?

Or if a pile of Shit is consecrated, does that make it Holy?’

For all I care ...

  1. It was meant to be (not against any particular Religion, but against blind-belief in ANY religious dogma) :-D
