Trimmer Waistline for Longer Life

As per a BBC report, “thick waist was a sign of a build-up of a dangerous type of fat around the internal organs”.  With my BMI (Body Mass Index) at ~24.2, I knew I was within the Normal weight range, although near the borderline.  Hence for the last month or so, I have been avoiding fattening foods, snacks etc. – not on any diet,  just minding the calories.

You can check your BMI  at [http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs.htm]

But the report made me measure my waist and bloody hell, I am actually on the other side of the border by an inch or so.  Seems I have to get into some sort of program.  The report says safe waistline for
  • Women - All: 31.5 inches (80 cm)
  • Men - Whites and Blacks: 37 inches (94 cm)
  • Men - South Asians: 35 inches (90 cm)

I am out by 1 inch at 36 (92 cm).
:-(

Update: (01 January 2013)

Horror of horrors.

In three years since this post, my waistline has grown by 2 inches - to 38 inches or ~97 cm.  In 2010, if my waistline was out by 1 inch to that of South Asian safe limit, today my waistline is out by 1 inch to that of even Whites and Blacks.

Definitely time to do something about it.

Is it time for me to get six-pack abs?  But then what do I do with my size 36 trousers?
:-?
