I just could not believe it. Of all the people who handle snakes and other deadly creatures, I thought Steve Irwin to be one of the most careful, and risk-averse naturalist.

Steve Irwin, 44, died after being struck in the chest by the stingray's barb while he was filming a documentary in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.
