Google’s New Year Eve Doodle 2014 shows MOM

One of the things to look forward to on the New Year’s Eve is the Farewell Google Doodle which sends off the old year.  Last year it was a dancing singing 2014 which walked off.  This year the Farewell 2014 Google Doodle got more trendier, literally.

The doodle featured five of the trendier topics of 2014 – trendier at least in Google’s eyes.  Watch this animated doodle as the word Google transforms into 2014 and gets animated.  BTW the GIF is animated in an endless loop – watching it a few times makes me dizzy.

In sequence, the animations are:
  • the Flappy Bird App, which was pulled by its author because it was too addictive; which,
  • transforms into Adidas Brazuca – the football of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014;
  • a TinTin Moon Rocket replica launch representing India’s Mars Orbiter Mission;
  • the Philae Lander of the ESA’s Rosetta Mission; and,
  • the famous ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
That makes 5 animations, while there are 6 letters in Google.  I guess the 6th invisible animation is for the disappeared Planes – MH370, MH17, and the QZ8501.  May the souls of all those perished RIP.
