World T20 India take on Pakistan in 13th Match

Is that the sign that the next time around, India will not win the 2014 ICC World T20?  For we have to take on Pakistan on the *13th Match* of the tournament on 21st March 2014, at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

The schedule was announced yesterday by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and it looks pretty confusing right now.  The cricket tournament itself will have a qualification or preliminary round, and then the Super 10 round.

In the preliminary stage Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, who finished outside the top eight T20 ranking in October 2013, will compete with 6 other qualifying teams for two places in the subsequent Super 10 stage, between March 16 to 21.

The 6 other teams for the preliminary stage are yet to be identified - for they will play in the Qualifiers between 15 - 30 November 2013, in UAE.
:-?

Thus the 2014 ICC World T20 Championship will have teams in 4 groups.  Groups A and B will comprise the eight teams battling it out for 2 spots in the Super 10 stage.

Groups 1 and 2 will be the 8 direct entrants (plus 1 qualifier each) playing 4 games each, for a spot in Semi Finals.  If this doesn’t make you to scratch your head (at least), you have a better understanding of Cricket than me!

The Super 10 groups are:
  • Group 1: Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Qualifier
  • Group 2: West Indies, India, Pakistan, Australia, Qualifier
Here is a snapshot of the schedule (with a lot of ‘TBD’) in (one of) my Google Calendar.

In case you want to, you can import the schedule from the link below.  It is an .ICS file - an iCalendar file - which can be used in:
  • Google Calendar and, iCal or Apple Calendar (of course); but also in,
  • Microsoft Outlook;
  • Windows Calendar (and Live Calendar);
  • Yahoo Calendar; and,
  • Mozilla Sunbird.
What more do we need.

Here is the ICC World T20 Schedule calendar link.  Clicking the link will download basic.ics file which can be then imported into your own calendar application.

Have Fun!

PS:  If you find it useful, please ‘thank’ in comments.  It will encourage me to update the file after the November Qualifiers.
