Was Mohamed Morsi ousted by Manmohan Jinx

Less than four months back, in March 2013, the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi visited New Delhi, with much bombast.  Before leaving for India, Mohamed Morsi shot off his mouth, calling for the BRICS to embrace Egypt and become E-BRICS.

When he was in India, PM Manmohan Singh, for his part called Morsi a ‘noble brother’.  Yesterday evening around 7 pm Egypt time (23:00 IST) Mohamed Morsi was officially removed from power by the Egyptian Army.  The coup d'état was announced by the minister of defence and Chief of Armed Forces General Abdul Fatah Khalil Al-Sisi.
  • After Julia Gillard, is Mohammed Morsi the next victim to fall to the Manmohan Jinx?
  • Before Julia, in recent times, there is the Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari effectively neutered in the 2013 General Elections where his party PPP has been wiped out.
  • Worse is the case of Zardari’s PM Raja Pervez Ashraf, who kept bumping into the PM Manmohan Singh.  Ashraf was ordered arrested by Pakistan Supreme Court in Jan, lost resoundingly in May 2013 elections and has been barred from leaving Pakistan.
  • There is also Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande, not to forget David Cameron who are facing political uncertainty and possible upset in upcoming elections.
  • Not to forget President Obama’s popularity, which already has taken a hit after shaking the hands of Manmohan Singh.  After Edward Snowden and bugging ‘friends’ revelations, it would be interesting to see his graph.
  • In June 2012, then Mexican President Felipe Calderón met PM Manmohan Singh on the side lines of G20 Leaders’ Summit.  His party PAN lost in the July General Elections to the opposition PRI.  To add ignominy Calderón’s predecessor Vicente Fox of PAN chose to support the current President Enrique Pena Nieto of PRI!
  • Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff did a one-on-one with PM Manmohan Singh during the BRICS summit in Mar 2013.  Within 3 months Dilma’s approval ratings have dropped a shocking 27% after three weeks of streets protests in June.  The public anger is so great, even the great Pele is getting slammed.
My wicked half whispers, ‘when I say Jinx, I mean the curse, not the curves!’
