Kumbh Mela Moodle instead of Google Doodle

Today is the concluding day of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2013.  The last day of 55 day long celebration is on Mahashivaratri day and 5 million devotees are estimated to have taken the holy dip in the Triveni Sangam today.

A total of 100 million people are estimated to have visited Allahabad and Maha Kumbh during the 55 day period, stretching from 14 Jan to 10 Mar 2013.  Not for nothing is it called the world’s largest religious gathering.  In comparison number of Muslims undertaking the annual Hajj pilgrimage is estimated at around 3.5 million.

So what if there is no Google Doodle to commemorate the completion of Kumbh Mela today, 10 March 2013?  Enjoy it with a Moodle.

The number 36 representing the two ‘O’s denote the souls which were lost when the stampede took place at the Allahabad Railway station on 10 Feb 2013.  If only I had thought of it earlier, a Ganges boat could have taken the place of ‘M’ and a Yogi and a Naga Sadhu the place of the ‘D’ and ‘L’.  As it has become usual, the ‘E’ has been taken over by the Sun.
