Grimm’s Fairy Tales 200th Anniversary Google Doodle

Google today celebrates the 200th Anniversary of the publishing of the Grimm brothers Fairy Tales collection Die Kinder und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales) with a Doodle.

There is no doubt the Grimms’ Fairy Tales are a collection of best stories ever imagined by the human race.  It is the modern equivalent of One Thousand One Nights or Aesop’s Fables (& its Indian equivalents Jataka Tales and Panchatantra Tales).

Grimm bothers' fatherland Germany has flagged off an year long celebration under the title Grimm 2013.  No wonder, as the brother Grimms’ Fairy Tales is the most successful book in the German Language.  Just imagine - the martial, stiff, goose stepping, unimaginative Germans thinking up all those wonderful stories!

Back to the present, the Google Doodle is a storyboard which recounts the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.

In a series of 22 images the Doodle takes us along as Little Red Riding Hood -
  • leaves to minister to her grandma,
  • meets the big bad wolf,
  • is distracted by its suggestion to pick flowers,
  • then enters the cabin,
  • to find the big bad wolf in the guise of her grandma,
  • to be devoured, and,
  • is rescued by the woodsman.
Here is the Google Doodle as a YouTube video.  (Took me half-an-hour to compile it into a video - so please share & add me into Google+ circles)
;-D

BTW should it be written as Grimms’ Fairy Tales or as Grimm’s Fairy Tales?
