What is with the Multiplication (Times) Tables?

Over the last several weeks there have been quite a few search hits for Multiplication Tables, Times Tables and the like.  It was quite surprising since the schools should have reopened long before now and the tables, if required, should have been a done job by now.

Unless the schools are trying to mess around with the kids X’mas holidays by giving them homework.  Whatever, the image file which they’ve been hitting upon is quite old and the clarity is quite bad.  Plus it is not printer friendly or of much use if downloaded.

To ease the problem (and get more number of search hits, recommended page views and thanks if someone feels like) here is this morning’s work.  The Multiplication Times Table for free download either as a Google (MS Excel) document or as a PDF file.

I thought of putting up the Multiplication Times Table from 1 to 10, but remembered that back in my school days learning upto 12th table was insisted upon

But then quite a number of hits were querying for upto 13th table, some upto 15th and a couple upto 16th.  Guess the schools nowadays are really piling it on.  Anyway, If I can drag in the MS Excel sheet upto 10 or 12, no reason I cannot drag a little further till 16.
:-P

Another problem I recollected was the multiplication times table themselves are of 2 formats.  Either one doesn’t bother the teens and adults, but to the kids used to one format, the other must seem alien.  (It did to me)

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, multiplication tables can be recited and learned in 2 ways -
  1. one threes are three, two threes are six, three threes are eight, Oops!  sorry, nine… and so on; or
  2. three ones are three, three twos are six, three threes are nine… and so on.
So, I have made it up in both formats, and also as PDF files for ready download & print, whatever your choice.  Apart from the standard table form, there is a much simpler format, which should be easy to learn, once you (and the kids) get the hang of it.  I’ve termed them as ‘simple’ and posted, again, as both Google docs and PDF files.  Links are at the end of this post.

Here is the snapshot of the ‘simple’ format (PDF file) (link at the end of post)

My Excited half exclaims, ‘Oh!  Just another 80 odd page views would fetch me the magical 22,222.  Seems X’mas is couple of days early for me!’
