We can debate till my RAM blows up on whether the Conficker worm was a door-kicker for the Stuxnet virus or whether the Conficker itself was of US-Israeli, Chinese or East European origin. But if claims of Iran are to be taken at face value, then Stuxnet version Iran seems to have trumped over the original Stuxnet version US/Israel.

10 days back a former US Army Special Operations and Intelligence officer claimed that Conficker was a door-kicker for the eventual Stuxnet virus infection, designed to cripple the Iranian Nuclear Weapons program. Whether it is true or not will be known in future - perhaps when US declassifies archives in 20 years or if Iran manages to elicit a smile out of Buddha.
2 days later the Iranians claimed to have shot down an Unmanned US Spy drone, identified as RQ170 Sentinel.
2 days back, the Iranians flaunted the captured UAV on TV where they claimed to have hijacked the drone with electronic warfare and not shot it down as stated earlier.
Whether the CIA will be shaken by the incident or simply stirred into more Stuxnet stunts remains to be seen; but what is certain is the setback to the Americans over possible reverse engineering and resultant loss of technological edge vis-a-vis Russia and China is real. The last paragraph of that report laments that no one (at least in the US) can explain how the drone was taken down.
My Mischievous side murmurs, ‘Remember the report that a keylogger virus was found in the Drone Command Centre, Nevada, US? Was that a simple keylogger or was that a Stuxnet version Iran? If it was, then we should see more drones - Sentinels, Predators and Reapers - falling out of the sky soon!’
To which my Wicked side whispers, ‘Wait a minute. How did the Iranians manage to infect the drones themselves? Did they send some tiny versions of Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum to inject the virus into the drones? If so, they must be well ahead in nano-technology! BTW where are the keffiyehs and the beards, jocks?’
