Toss of the Woe Cup 2011

It is all down to the toss today. With 2 matches scheduled for today, and the first where ZIM take on KEN is already underway, we come to the end of the league round. ZIM should win the first match.

The 2nd match is the one in my home town between IND and WI which would decide the Q/F line up in Group B and will also point to the S/F line up.

Either IND will win and take on AUS in Q/F or lose and take on SL (with WI it is vice-versa).

IND is going in without Sehwag, who is reportedly out with an injury and instead might play both Ashwin and Raina. Irrespective of whoever plays in both teams, I think winning the toss (and electing to bat) will decide the fate of the match.

From what I can see, the Chepauk pitch will not last full 100 overs. After 35 overs, I have a feeling that the pitch will start to play its tricks. By 70th over, that is halfway through the second batting innings, it might get very uncomfortable to play the shots.

OTOH, for the last couple of days, there has been some heavy dew formation and the 'dew factor' might severly constrain the bowling team.

But personally, I think it will be a good toss to win and bat first.

Yesterday, one match was played out as predicted and the result of the other didn't match up as predicted. Instead, as I speculated, the unpredictable PAK played the spoilers and trounced AUS to top their Group.
:-)

1. RSA vs BAN - RSA win - correct prediction
2. AUS vs PAK - PAK win - wrong (result) prediction; but correct speculation.
LOL
