Religion isn't divisive, but can unite us

I kind of suspect that Mani Shankar Aiyar’s ‘going-abroad-to-get-away-from-CWG’ had another hidden agenda.  I guess that he did not want to be around when the Mosque-Temple judgement is delivered.

As he had stated, he and the Commonwealth Culprit Suresh Kalmadi were partying in Goa at the time of original demolition.  And Kalmadi’s quip was ‘We lost the Muslim vote, We lost the Hindu vote, let’s have a go at the Christian votes in Goa’.  A very wacky, mad.madrasi sense of humour, but which seems to have deserted him of late.

While the whole world is holding its breadth waiting for mosque verdict and riots and whereas most of us saner Indians are praying for good sense to prevail with fingers crossed, I went breathless when this report crossed my RSS reader.
  • An horse named ‘Ave Maria’ has won the *Makalu* plate at the Hyderbad Races.
  • (Note the name ‘Ave Maria’ which is ‘Hail Mary’ to all of us non-Christians)
  • The trainer of the horse was one R. Prasad, by all counts should be a Hindu, who obviously did not mind putting his best efforts on a Christian themed horse.no
  • The jockey who won was one A. Imran Khan, who also did not mind putting his best efforts atop a Christian themed horse, trained by a Hindu.
And we are still worried about religion! Seeing such example, I conclude that the GoI should engage itself more into how the religious affairs/boards/sabhas/sanghs are run, maintained, and financed.  If we sane Indians can control this religious fanatics on all sides, we should have no more worries, except about … politicians!
:-D

In case you don’t know what Makalu is, it is the 5th highest mountain in the world – an eight-thousanders, and located at Nepal – China border.

Now spot both Makalu and Mt. Everest in this, if you can: (mosaic taken from ISS)

The mosaic has (left-to-right) at least Makalu (8,462 metres; 27,765 feet), Everest (8,848 metres; 29,035 feet) , Lhotse (8,516 metres; 27,939 feet) and Cho Oyu (8,201 metres; 26,906 feet)
