Preach as you (don’t) Practice

It has been a very good start for the week.  1st the chucker news and now this have left me in splits.  The Parliamentary panel has suggested a cap on CEO salaries.

Yep, the MPs have given themselves a whopping 300 – 500 percent raise! They don’t want any panel or other mechanism to oversee their pay or even audit their allowances.  They don’t want to give their stakeholders (the voting public) any say on that matter.

But when it comes to corporate pay packets – they want all of those built in, with a cap on pay packet and retrospective recovery to boot.

Especially hilarious are the two recommendations
  • in case a company fails to garner profit, … it requires the Central Government's approval to dole out salaries.
  • in the event of established fraud or fudging … remuneration paid … may be recovered.
The GoI is running in deficit – and it is alarming; forget what the government says, do you have the guts to face the facts?  Look at this graphic from visualeconomics.  If that corporate rule is applied to the MPs, where would their salaries stand?

As for the fraud is concerned, do I need to name names?
Some of them are even known to engage in human trafficking

Has there been any recovery or even an attempt to do so till now?
:-P
