Amavasya Tharpanam Sankalpam Generator Tamil (2013-14)

The new version 0.2 beta generates the (almost) full sankalpam manthiram - covering the Year, Month, Thithi, Day and Nakshatra, for both Sarva Amavasya, Bodhanaya Amavasya and the 4 Punya Kala Tharpanams.  What it lacks is the individuals names in the Amavasya Tharpana Sankalpam.

The merged cell at Row 15 and 16 display the Sankalpam Manthiram which can then be saved as a PDF file to be printed or stored on smartphone.
[Tip:  Click on the merged cell -> Print (Ctrl + P) -> click ‘Selection’ Radio Button (‘Print What’ section) in the pop-up dialogue].
:-)

The Amavasya Tharpanam Manthiram Generator 0.2 beta has options to select the Sankalpam for Iyer or Iyengars (Vadakalai or Thenkalai).  The sheet uses 4 dropdown lists for selection of
  • Type (Bhodhayana, Sarva Amavasya or Punya Kala Tharpanams);
  • Date (depending upon the selection);
  • Sect (Iyer or Iyengars); and,
  • Mother Alive (Yes / No).
Below them are 2 blank cells (B8 and B9) to enter the Father’s and Mother’s lineage Gothrams.

Since macros are not used in this version, the dropdown lists are not ‘dependent’ - that is selecting one will not affect or auto change others.  So I have provided for a couple of cells at B12 and B13, which remind you of the next Tharpanam due date and your selection - ‘Red’ font if selected date is at variance and ‘Green’ if same.

The top right cells (G4 to G12) dynamically display various details of year, thithi, etc., for additional confirmation.

As of now, Amavasya Tharpanam Manthiram Generator 0.2 beta has details of the Tharpanams for July, August, September and October (till 04th October 2013 Amavasya).

To download the Amavasya Tharpanam Manthiram Generator 0.2 beta fill in the form and hit submit.  The link to download MS Excel file (~45 KB) will be sent to you by Gsheet.  [Tip: Once the Gsheet opens, hit Ctrl+ S to download it].  Please try it out and post feedback.

BTW the email will come from mad.madrasi.one (at) gmail ID.  The reason is simple.  Google automatically locks out an account if more than 500 emails are sent in 24 hours.  Though a remote possibility, I don’t want to take the risk of blocking my regular ID.

  1. Sorry, I don't know Kannada, but what I will do is adopt your other suggestion. Do an English version - within a couple of days. But 1 problem which you (or other Kannada ppl) have to tell me though -

    a) the weekdays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_days_of_the_week#Indian_astrology) and nakshatras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakshatra) will be the same as in Tamil too, as we follow the Sanskrit names. Pls confirm.

    b) the 4 ruthus and 2 Ayanams & Krishan/Shukla paksham will also be the same. :-) No need say so.

    c) The Year names follow Tamil year Names (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_calendar) current year is Vijaya. And the ta_month also follows Tamil Month names (same wiki link as above). Will that do for you/Kannnada ppl? Pls. remember, Tamil calendar months start at/near Full Moon day (Poornima) and not at New Moon (Amavasya) unlike other calendars. This will be *the* major problem to sort out. :-?
