Mahalaya Amavasya 2015 Tharpana Sankalpam

This year, the Mahalaya Amavasya or the Amavasya, that is the New Moon, which occurs in the Tamil month of Purattasi is on Monday, 12 Oct 2015.  Of all the Amavasyas in an year, the new moon days which occur in the Tamil months of Aadi and Purattasi are considered special.  Hence, Tamil people, who normally skip the ancestor worship during other new moon days, make it a point to do the Tharpanam or the ancestor worship on these two amavasyas.

As this year’s Mahalaya Amavasya occurs on Monday, it may be difficult for the Tamil people who live away from the Tamil lands to obtain the details to perform the Tharpanam.  Hence, we have updated the online Amavasya Tharpana Sankalpam Generator 0.6 beta to output the Sankalpam for the Mahalaya Amavasya in PDF format, and to be delivered to your email ID.
